Dedication

This congress book is dedicated to the Swedish ophthalmologist Henrik Sjögren – the man who gave the name to the disease Sjögren´s Syndrome.

In January 1997 we established our website on the Internet. At the site we post information on the autoimmune disease Sjögren's Syndrome. We supply updated news on research in progress and supply persons with Sjögren's Syndrome with advice and assistance.

Through the years on the web we have noticed an increasing interest in knowing more about Sjögren's Syndrome. As a non-profit patient's organization we, first of all, try to fulfil our purpose to inform, encourage and support our members. Secondly, we strive for good relations with medical professionals by e.g. producing a magazine, folders and books in the field of Sjögren's Syndrome.

Therefore it is a pleasure to present here, at our website, the State of Art Lectures in fulltext held at the 100-year Anniversary of Henrik Sjögren in September 1999 in Jönköping, Sweden.

Thanks to the generosity of the authors, the editors and the Swedish Society of Medicine granting their permission, the book from the anniversary is now on the web.
